Free ammo box locking hardware.
« on: June 08, 2020, 03:21:15 PM »

Assuming you have a padlock and an ammo box (50 caliber), then you need some hardware to make the lock work. Dedicated hardware packs for that cost about $7 each. And some methods ruin the airtight seal.
The cheapest way I've seen in this (assuming you already own a Dremel. Cutting wheels are a few cents each.
The "linesman" pliers he mentions are these (regular pliers should also work, just not as easily). "Pump pliers" are even longer but not wide jawed and not as strong.

I have a few of them but I have no desire to padlock them. If anybody breaks in they'll just take the whole box anyway.

That is a great way to lock the box, but I agree with Hawg. If a box is locked, it must contain valuables, and the box would be taken. However, if there are kids around that might get into mischief with the contents, then locking the box would make sense.
