I have 2 original '58s but have never shot them....yet. I don't see why shooting paper cartridges in them would be any different than shooting the cartridges in repro guns.

Welcome, good sir. I build cartridges with hemp papers, Goex FFFg (about 25gr, by measure), and J & D conical pure lead bullets (avg. 220gr). My NMA (#52, 624) has no problems with these.

Made some cartridges today while the wife watched her soaps. See picture 1. Using 25 grns Goex FFF, Hornady .454 round ball, and some of Omnivores swaged round ball bullets, and also some Pyrodex FFF 30 grn pistol pellets. I used Shotgun Daves forming cartridge tool. Had a slight problem with it but i worked it out. Round ball loads are the 25 grns of Goex. Makes a nice cartridge. The swaged bullets not so much. I decided to glue some Pyrodex pellets to 5 of the bullets as a test. I will try them all out once it guits raining here.

I only shoot repro Rems and open tops and about half the time I'll be using paper carts.  I really like those things.

Hey Scrubby -  +1 on hemp papers.  They're more elastic and stronger that many papers.  American Spirt flax papers work well for me, too.
