I use FFG in my antiques to keep the pressures down.  It works fine.  I have used FFFG in my Remington New Model .44 with no problems, but I like to baby the older ones.

To quote from an old Colt Industries pamphlet: "FFG black powder is best for the large and medium size revolvers, and FFFG for the small pocket models, but any grade that is available will work reasonably well."
