My Chief Tecumseh Trade Gun.......
« on: October 07, 2018, 01:44:55 PM »
About a month ago I bought an exact copy of Chief Tecumsehs Northwest Trade Gun.......a 8" shorter, 20 gauge (.62 cal) smoothbore from Access Heritage in Ottawa Canada at a really nice price.
Had to drill the vent myself and the trigger is beyond awful (gotta work on that) but it turned out to be a beautiful, awesome gun for the $ !!

finally took it to the range yesterday, and #7 shot will put Mr.Gobbler on the table easy.....& the .595 PRB shot surprisingly accurately.......
the #4 shot & 00 buck both need work on the loads as y'all can see from the masked holes on the target (25 yards)

That looks very nice. How is the frizzen? I would guess that it is an India-made gun what with the touch hole needing to be drilled. Some of them were soft, but I understand that some distributors hardened the frizzens before selling the guns.

Mazo yes, it's made in India.......and the frizzen is hardened to perfection.....sparks great w/o having the "brittle/about to shatter" sound......I use 1 1/8" flat topped French flints in it and it fires with zero ignition time on any powder in the pan up to and including 2F.

I wish TOTW would send better English flints but I always seem to get triangular shaped as opposed to flat, whether buying a sample or 2 dozen.
It's ok though....the Frenchies work very well and aren't that much more expensive.
