1884 Springfield Trapdoor 45-70

Just got this beauty this week, loaded some bp cartridges yesterday so I could take it to the range this morning - I think I'm in love.

If you pop over to castboolits.com there´s a dude there that basically wrote the manual on how to load these.

I actually bought the book it's called Loading Cartridges for the Original .45-70 Springfield Rifle.

Nice rifle, always wanted one but they are prohibitively expensive down here

Cool!
There´s quite a few that have come to load these with very careful duplex loads. This NOT to alter performance but to make the things run way cleaner.
Have tried their approach too and for guns that´ll take it it sure is a different way to fly. Accustomed to how blackpowder fouls the long guns up it becomes kind of weird that you can shoot like a 100 shots without wiping,the thing just keeps rolling...
