I almost got a Unertl scope like that but I wanted something with a wider field of view so I passed on it. Now I wish I hadn't.

I've read reports of soldiers using round bullets in the Whitworth and them performing well. Seems the round bullets during their trip down the bore conform to the shape of the Whitworth. I have read Whitworth bullets were harder lead and some bullets issued during the war were round bullets made from soft lead with a hollow base. I have seen both hollow and solid based Whitworth bullets.

I believe a friend of mine has a whitworth. He asked me about buying it but I'm not into black powder rifles. It's in good shape. What would the rifle be worth in good condition? No scope.
