'nother project gun
« on: July 11, 2011, 07:55:54 PM »
Any of y'all familiar with the Savage 219? It was a hammerless break-barrel single made in both rifle & shotgun configurations. I had a 30/30 years ago but sold it. Some time ago, I fell into one that came with 2, 16ga barrels & a 30/30. I sleeved one of the 16ga barrels & made it a 22 K-Hornet. Makes a neat walking around varmint gun. I rechambered the 30/30 barrel to Ackley Improved & intend to use it for deer hunting when I get too feeble to pack my heavier deer rifles around. Not sure what to do with the other 16ga barrel. I started to make it into an inline 50 cal M/L but decided I don't like inlines. Maybe 32-40 or 38-55.
 I made a Winchester 37A .410 into a 45 Colt carbine for a bud last year & he likes it a lot:
I reckon so

KWILFONG, have you ever tore down a 1903 colt? I got two of them that are already tore down. me and becky are going to reblue them. I never put one together, sence I didnt take them apart I know we're going to have problems assembling the first one, got any experience with these?

I don't recall that model specifically. I used to do the bluing for a local gunshop & did hundreds of guns, so maybe?. Have you looked online for a schematic? I have several books on firearm assembly/disassembly but rarely get them out because I can find most of it with a google search.

Understood chuckr; I probably have but have slept since. many of the pocket autos from that period are similar.
