Twenty thousandths seems to be excessive, even for a Pietta.  The ones that I have seen have much closer fit between the lever and the mounting slot on the bottom of the barrel.

Well, I guess it's not too excessive for a loading lever to work properly, but not a precise fit. Kind of disappointed, but not necessarily so. It works. I guess I could shim it with small thin washers? I'm not sure that would look good and would probably show.

Suggestions from all appreciated.

I have 2 Piettas and an Uberti.  None of them have that much slop at the loading lever pivot.   One of the Pietta models was manufactured last year,  the other Pietta was made late nineties and the Uberti in 1979.   I haven't measured but I would guess that there is about .004 or .005 clearance on each side of the pivot point at the most.
