Found: New Orleans Ace Pistol Kit
« on: October 20, 2014, 05:08:05 PM »
Here it is partially assembled.

After assembly, it did pop a cap at first try.
It came in it's box with the plastic still covering all parts, looks like it was never opened.
After peeling off that film, I saw a lot of rust on the hammer and barrel.
The hammer and trigger pivot holes were not working as was, so with a small diamond file, I cleared out the burrs therein.
Not sure what the date was but the instructions were marked 2/80 and Made in Korea.
Stock seems to be made from Padauk, red in color and hard. Stock needs more "trimming".

Oh, and $35 OTD.

That was a nice find Paul! Now that you post pictures, I remember building a kit like that many years ago; sold it shortly after building it without shooting it!

Nope, according to the instructions, this one is more like a .44 or thereabouts as it takes a .424 RB and patch.

So, where do I get .42 lead marbles?

 _l Yep 35 bux.

Hey BartSr, I was just thinking...your gun might take a patched lead round ball?
You know, where you take a little cloth over the barrel end and then ram the ball home?

Just make sure the cloth isn't the T-shirt you're wearing.  The guys on the range look at you really funny-like when you have to shoot the gun from inside your shirt.  Also the powder will scorch your belly.

My digital caliper measures 0.444 inches for the bore, but of course it's a rough measurement.
Besides the box says that it's a .44 cal.

I will make sure that I use the edges of my T-shirt when loading for the first time.  )L$

Since the barrel is a screw-off, can any one hazard a guess as to the thread size?
--->> 1/2 inc h x 20 US-fine, I got the taps today.
---->>> Anyone have a 4 inch .40 cal barrel stub laying around?

It'd be fun to have another barrel of say .38 cal to use revolver RB/bullet ammo, with a patch of course, and that barrel could be rifled.

What say you?

I would take a guess that the barrel is threaded in a metric size, but since I no longer have my pistol, I have no way to check thread size. If you have the tap , you could tap a scrap piece of steel and check the fit yon the pistol that way.

Actually, it is 1/2 inch x 20 threads/inch. Uses a 29/64 inch drill for the tap.

Now looking for a suitable barrel scrap, rifled if possible.
