New 1890 .45 Pix
« on: November 16, 2013, 10:57:13 AM »
Here is my new 1890 .45 Remington. I do like these guns. It was a hassle all around and I won't bore you. I smoothed it's internals, refinished the grips in oil and slimmed them. Plainest wood I have gotten on a Uberti. Reshaped the hammer. Going to shoot some new .45 Cowboy rounds in it. All needed is to checker the hammer.
Now that I have it, timing is off. A new hand goes in today. I like these pistols.

New Cowboy 45 next to Schofield rounds.

Thanks. Now I wish the .357 was in 45 so I had a matched pair. They look identical but the 38 has better wood. j

I like it jchiggins.  (T^ I'd be happy with the two different ones, cause I don't have either one to play with. You send me the one you don't want, and buy the one that will make you have the one that will make you have the pair you'd like to have, and I'd have the one I don't have, and we'd both be happy. Don't ja see.  {?|  (?^
If it's not broke don't try fixin it.

I wouldn't mind if you enlightened an ignorant guy about what ".45 Cowboy" means.

Hi Len, There is a company making 45 Colt brass shortened to the same length asa 45acp if you want smaller cases, lighter loads etc. I bought 250. Used to shoot Schofields and 45 Auto Rim in my old Vaqueros. This new brass as you can see is quite compact.
Here is where you can get it. People use 45acp dies to load this brass, I use .455 webley with a 45 Colt shell holder.
