CVA and TC single shots
« on: July 31, 2011, 11:13:55 AM »
I went up to see my dad in May, and he reminded me that I left some guns with him years ago.  OK, maybe decades ago.  Anyway, he whips out this one, a CVA Mountain pistol in .50.  I bought it at a rendezvous a long time ago for about $50.  Shoots great.

I also have a TC Patriot .45 I bought a year or so ago.  It's very accurate, but I think the CVA is just as accurate, especially after I adjusted the trigger screw.

Nice, I have the CVA .50, a very good shooter.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

No, and parts are hard to come by because TC no longer has any.  On the auction sites they go pretty steep, but there are a few deals to he had.

ET, the barrel says "Spain" on it, so I'd say that's a yes.

Here's my CVA Hawken Pistol. Very accurate with either PRB or Lee REAL. Will also take one heckuva load!

I think that's was one of the differences between the Hawken and Mountain pistols.

Geraldo is right, there was a weird brass butt plate that was supposed to go on, but, never got around to it. I have loaded it up to 120 gr of FF behind a 290ish gr minie. OMG, the blast and recoil were awesome, but at 1 inch across the flats, I figured it was strong enough to take it.
