Sergio and Leone 44 Army Brass
« on: September 15, 2011, 04:58:51 PM »
Well, I couldn't help it, I got twitchy auction finger and bought it.

Made by the lesser known Italian manufacturer who gets things almost, but not quite, right.

Here is a 1971 Navy Arms (Uberti) Griswold and Gunnison ARMY version.
There was / is some caked on BP residue that isn't effecting functionality, bore is quite bright with a couple of BP problem patches. Timing is perfect and it points nicely.  Now to load it up and take it outside!

Its better collecting Cap n Ball than Milsurp. Although the M1941 Johnson MG is a nice piece of equipment, I would rather get a reputation for sitting around playing with my Remingtons.

I love Sergio and Leones.  Two cool things, both incorporated on yours are the Dragoon round barrel, and .44 on a Navy frame.  Cool, very cool.

Dang right!! You gonna shine that brass or age it a little?

Neither - gonna leave her exactly as she is.

I completely understand about the need to polish. We have lots of old english horse brass that I got from my family.  That stuff looks terrible if it isn't all sparkling.  Silverwear is even worse!

On the other hand, I love what Black Powder use and time does to brass frames.  If I cleaned this, then it would lose some of its magical looks.

I didn't know Uberti was making brass frames that late.

You are forgiven as long as you give us a comprehensive range report.

The report is http://1858remington.com/discuss/index.php?topic=1050.0

She shoots.. oh wow she shoots.   I would be out there right now except i just ran out of balls, I have three boxes of .451 that are about to go into the melting pot, the ROA takes .457 and the rest of my bunch take .454.  Right now Bi-Mart is outta .454

If I can find my moulds......

Shoot, that's only 50 more than I gave for the one I shot to death back in 1980. It is a sweet shooter.
