Taylor's will fit your cylinder for free
« on: March 29, 2017, 09:16:47 PM »
I only found out about this because I called them about parts.

You pay for shipping and the cylinder and there gun smith will fit it.  If it wont fit your gun you only pay shipping. They work the cylinder not your gun so it comes back the way you sent it.

Want to give Taylor's customer service a shout out.

Fired a dozen or so rounds out of a pair of 45 colt conversion cylinders dropped into new Pietta's.
Stopped by yesterday to have them check function and fit; wasn't familiar with the product, thought a slight slippage was evident.
5 minutes start to finish, both revolvers tight and ready to go.

JC and Tom, two thumbs up.

Hi old, the main problem with Pietta 1858s and conversion cylinder is that there is a high probability that the conversion cylinder will rotate counter clockwise on hammer fall, a very dangerous issue. Taylor will modify the Pietta bolt legs so that condition doesn't occur. IMO Taylor is a high quality company, their conversion cylinders are the lowest cost, and they will get replacement parts for you if ever required.

one minor problem I see.
They will fit the original purchase.
But what happens when the bolt / trigger spring breaks and a new one must be installed.
Putting you back into that possibly dangerous situation again.
I doubt they will re do it again.  least wise not for free.
so again a good reason to learn to work on your own equipment.
There's plenty of tutorials here on the forum.
