I'm gearing up for the black powder deer season in Oklahoma and regular firearm season in Kansas. I'll be carrying my bow and either my ROA or 1858 Remington. Really hoping for some success with both this year. In Oklahoma, I can take 2 antlered deer as long as at least 1 of them is taken with archery equipment.

It is deer season in California. I lucked out with a 3 pointer (western count) but had to use a 30-06 since a smoke pole could not be used in the zone I was hunting. Probably a good thing since the whole Sierra range is a tinder box with the combination of the multi-year drought and the massive pine bark beetle infestation.

I was able to bag a 310 lb boar 2 years ago (20 gauge slug) but they seem to have moved on from the area I've been hunting.

At 85 I don't get to roam as far as I used to http://1858remington.com/discuss/Smileys/default/smiley.gif

Golly.  Here's to being out chasing deer at 85   _LL _LL

Congratulations on the three pointer.  That'll be some good eatin'.  If getting a buck, that's just the kind I want.

Our ML deer season in Eastern WA doesn't start 'till late November.

I'm hunting for the free time that would allow me to go hunting something furry.
