Hi Omnivore, I wasn't talking about a .22 conversion for the 1862, but rather .38 caliber. IMO the main reason we will never see a .22 conversion for the 1862 is because of the very small 1862 revolver base. The main reason we won't see it for either the 1849 Colt or 1863 Remington is because of the thin walled removable barrel liner for a .31. I shoot .32 S&W in conversion cylinders for the 1849 and 1863, has about the same energy as a .22 LR.
