There is a 1858 cattleman's carbine in an episode of "Firefly".

I highly, highly recommend seeing Ride with the Devil. It is the most authentic Civil War film I've ever seen right down to the horse tack, guns, bushwhacker shirts, and authentic dialog taken out of the era like a time warp. Great dialog of the age.
I've been called the Imelda Marcos of cap & ball for having over 15 of them. That's a compliment.

I agree "Ride with the Devil" GREAT movie and a lot of realism to it. I thought I saw a brasser in the TV version of The Hatfieds and Macoys anybody see it?

Yeah several times and its a conversion on top of it. There's also a brass 49 pocket with a conversion cylinder.

Hatfields and McCoys, yep, Kevin Costner's starts out a percussion winds up a conversion. There were plenty of steel frames, but, his HAD to be brass to stand out, LOL
