Dear Friends,
I FINALLY found some Ballistol the other week.  For wipe down, I use a piece of old T-Shirt, spray it with the ballistol, and wipe the guns down with it. Seems to work like a charm.  Beware of 3 in 1 oil.  It can get very gummy if left in a gun for a long time! One of the finest lubricating oils on the market, is "Singer Sewing Machine Oil."  It is light and very pure. Singer Sewing Machines are built to very fine tolerances, and you can really screw one up, if you put something like 3 in 1 oil in them.
Ever asked yourself what three in one means?  Well it stands for the combination of ingredients! Oil, Wax, and Varnish! Still want to put that Gunk in your much loved weapons???

Not me. Rem Oil, all the way.
BTW, you can now get it in liquid, aerosol spray or pump, or in wipes form.

I never used the modern cleaning stuff on any of my bp firearms the only thing I tried different was when I heard about Ballistol so ordered a bottle of it been using it. I have used Rem oil on the outside and inside the action a couple revolvers to see how it would work out. Looked like it worked out real well. Never used it on the inside of the barrel or in the cylinder chambers though. Non of my bp firearms show any signs of rust.
If it's not broke don't try fixin it.
