Confederate notes etc
« on: December 24, 2018, 07:47:37 PM »
A few things I have left from my Civil War collection. A 50 cent note printed on the back of a 4 dollar note. Dunno what the 20's are for unless it was a mistake is why the note was scrapped.

Another 50 cent note from Ga.

A three dollar note from Columbus, MS. 30 miles up the road.

A 10 dollar note from Richmond. These are the ones not worth the paper they were printed on. I've got several Richmond notes.

Mint condition Jeff Davis stamps. I had some cancelled stamps(worth more) but I traded them for a gun or something.

A strip of Civil War era matches.

Civil War era cards.

Cool stuff Hawg.  I'm a sucker for this kind of thing but I haven't picked up any Confederate currency.   I see it for sale fairly often but haven't found the piece that strikes me right yet.   A lot of the fractional notes are reasonably priced too but some are rare and expensive.

Richmond notes are usually pretty cheap. If they're not cheap walk away. The Nashville notes are worth a good bit. Local notes like mine run above average.

That is really cool Hawg. Didn't realize there was a system of "we'll pay you.....if you bring in $5 bucks worth" going on. That had to have been a real pain in the rear.
