Branching out
« on: May 06, 2018, 08:36:03 PM »
I've decided to do a little knife making in my "spare time".      I've had a few inquiries about knives I've made sheaths for.   Mostly about knives my Uncle had made.   Since he is not able to do anything any longer I figured I could make a few to go along with the sheath work I did for his knives.
I made this one to donate for an auction fundraiser to a non profit organization in New Mexico.   This design is popular with ranch workers that use their knife daily.    It has a handle made of Redwood burl and brass bolsters and pins.   It fits in a crossdraw sheath that covers most of the handle with basket weave pattern on the pouch.

Outstanding work mike. I used to know a knife maker and it was amazing to watch him turn out a beautiful blade.

Very nice!  I like the full-length tang, and the burl wood is awesome.

Best of luck with the new venture, not that you'll need it from the looks of things...  :)

Pustic,       I see,   I think I've heard talk about that show.    I don't have cable or satellite TV so the only stuff I can watch is free broadcasts.   I don't have much interest in most television anyway.

Right now there's little chance of getting on that show since I don't forge anything.... Yet.   You never know what the future will bring.

Hmm... (A) Doesn't have much interest in television.  (B) Is a high-functioning craftsman.
I think I see a correlation.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Pustic....   I'm now aspiring to get myself on TV.    I'll give you credit if it ever happens.

Omni.....  I've never been accused of "high-functioning"  thanks.

Looks great to me Jim.   Is that Koa or Tulip wood on the bottom two handles?   I have a bunch of both,  and a lot of Indonesian Rosewood for knife scales and gun grips.
