Schofield #3
« on: November 13, 2017, 08:06:39 PM »
I just won a Schofield #3 pellet revolver and it was shipped today. Supposedly has never been shot as it was part of a costume. I will post pictures when it arrives.

I hesitated to bid on the gun, but eventually I did the deed.  M__  There are scads of modern repro air pistols out there, so I am glad to see some of the "oldies" being made. There is the '75 Remmie, the Schofield and the '73 Colt that I know of. The Umarex Colt is the only one ( I think!) that has a rifled barrel.

Hi mazo, is this the revolver?

https://www.amazon.com/Bear-River-Airgun-Schofield-Revolver/dp/B01HTV2MM6/ref=pd_sbs_200_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RBRHK1ATRZ01K3PH9N91

If so, can the smooth bore barrel be removed and replaced with a rifled barrel?

BTW, we now have a Air Power section on the Colt message board:

Richard

Richard, that is indeed the gun! As far as replacing the barrel, I really don't know. I suppose if you have the tools, you could do it. I think the Umarex Colt has a rifled barrel so maybe that is a possibility.

I was hoping that just maybe, the cartridges would interchange as then I would have 24. Sadly, such is not the case. The Schofield cartridge is loaded from the front, the Remington from the rear. Also, the Remington cartridges are just a smidgeon too long to allow the Schofield barrel to close. As far as accuracy goes, I have seen a couple of conflicting reports. Suppose it would depend on the hold and distance.

Hi mazo, thanks for the reply. If I knew that the barrel could be replaced with a rifled barrel I would buy one.

Please let me know if the barrel can be removed from the revolver.

Amazon sells cartridges to be used with pellets for that gun, see:

Thanks for that link Richard, but I already have checked prices. Actually Midway has the same cartridges for $9.00 a set of 6. So I could get 2 sets with the shipping for less than 2 sets of the Amazon without shipping. As far as removing the barrel, I haven't looked that close at the gun. I do know the barrels are spring loaded to seal the end of the chamber. Maybe someone on an airgun forum could answer your question as to what would be entailed in swapping out a barrel?
