Old Army SS 5 1/2 fixed sights
« on: March 14, 2017, 08:04:14 PM »
Just picked up this beauty today. It has been fired and has aftermarket grips, but I like it! Had one bad nipple but I replaced it with a new one. Might order Slix Shot nipples for it. Love my Remmies and Colt's, but the Ruger Old Army is quite a shooter (although I know how Hawg feels about these non-historical weapons).

Actually Bruce, I got a very good deal on it from a former CAS shooter. He also has an almost complete collection of 2nd Gen and Signature Series Colt cap and ball revolvers too.

I'm not very interested in the ROA or stainless revolvers but this one has me looking hard.   It's the best looking ROA I've seen.   I like the fixed sights.    Watch out for Apache warriors.

Nice looking gun! I just got a new-to-me ROA with the adjustable sights. According to the serial number, mine was made in 1978.....39 years ago!

I have a 7 1/2 fixed sight SS that was shipped from Ruger in 1997 but this new one has a serial number that isn't listed on the Ruger website. Since it has a very low serial number, I'm guessing that it was made in 2002, the first year of the 5 /12 barreled models. I could contact Ruger to find out.

Thanks for the Ruger links DD, very interesting.

I saw it Mazo, very nice pistol. It would be fun to have a .50 cal Clemmets conversion like DD's Old Army too.

Nice Bruce! My 7 1/2 SS model also was made in 1997. You sold that Taylor's conversion cylinder right? Did you ever buy a Kirst to replace it?
